Provenance from estate of Stanley Jones MBE RE. A rare, unusual image from the Piper genre of making buildings stand out in his totally unique style and superb provenance.
Stanley Jones studied at Wigan School of Art and then the Slade School of Art in London.
He studied lithography in Paris at the Ecole de Beaux Arts and the Atelier Patris, Montparnasse, before returning to London with his wealth of knowledge and skills to help set up the Curwen Studio.
Curwen Studio, led by Stanley, was a major part of a rapid development in British Printmaking, allowing artists the freedom to work in artistic printmaking and building Stanley's reputation as one of the greatest master printmakers of all time. During this period Stanley printed with major British artists of the 20th century including Henry Moore, Barbara Hepworth, Elisabeth Frink, Paula Rego, Ceri Richards, David Hockney , Edward Bawden and John Piper.
This is a larger image than the standard run produced by the Curwen Studio and as such and a personal copy of Stanley Jones is a rare find indeed!
Framing can be arranged if required.
