Jean Dryden Alexander (1911-94)
Jean Dryden Alexander (1911-94) was the youngest daughter of well known watercolourists RGD Alexander and Effie Alexander and was born in Shenfield, Essex. Her parents circle included Mark Fisher, HB Brabazon and Sir George Clausen and this circled inspired and influenced a young Jean! The whole family regularly painted en plein air along the Essex coastline. After winning a scholarship to the legendary Slade School of Art (1931-35) she went on to exhibit at The Royal Academy, The New English Art Club, The Society of Women Artists and the Whitechapel Art Gallery.
