Gordon's fine art involves a mix of surrealism and realism as he mixes everyday objects together in a way like we see in this picture; as two vases cuddle up closely together both looking out to sea , with the setting sun glistening off their shiny rims.
When I first saw this image I immediately saw two lovers entwined together, either looking to journey away or being trapped and wanting to be somewhere else altogether! Such is the power and imagination of Gordon's artwork.
It's beautifully painted, as you would imagine from a Scottish Royal Academy artist and is a real eye-catcher!
It was originally exhibited at the Roger Billcliffe Fine Art Gallery (label attached verso), who have exhibited Gordon's work since 1993 (www.billcliffegallery.com).
His works sell at gallery for between £2k - £20k and a new secondary auction record for Gordon K Mitchell's work was established on 24/1/2021 at McTears, Glasgow with 'Castaway' selling for £8,000!
